The DFID’s fund will be spent in developing infrastructure, education and hygiene for the poor; preventing HIV/AIDIS infection and anti-corruption.
The UK pledged to provide long-term aid to Việt Nam under the 10-year agreement on partnership (2006-2015). Accordingly, in the first five years, the UK will finance £250 million (equivalent to US $500 million) for Việt Nam’s poverty reduction, HIV/AIDS control, and anti-corruption.
Since 1992, the DFID has granted Việt Nam a total non-refundable aid of £227 million (or US $450 million). The UK continues to the biggest provider of non-refundable aid to Việt Nam.
