State President meets Egyptian House Speaker, PM

At the meeting with Mr. Ali Abdel Aal, State President Quang asserted that Viet Nam always attaches importance to maintaining the traditional friendship with Egypt via State, National Assembly and Government channels, and people-to-people exchange, welcoming the Egyptian legislature for its efforts in establishing the Egypt-Viet Nam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group. 

Viet Nam always treasures the traditional friendship, the leader said, expressing his thanks to Egyptian people for their valuable support to Vietnam during its past struggle for national liberation as well as the present cause of national construction and development. 

Over the past 55 years, the two countries have reaped significant cooperation achievements, especially in politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, culture, education and training, said Mr.Ali Abdel Aal, expressing his hope that State President Quang’s visit will contribute to creating breakthroughs in the bilateral ties, particularly in economy, in order to soon complete the target of raising the two-way trade to US$1 billion in 2020. 

The State President urged the two countries’ legislative bodies to increase delegation exchange and cooperation and mutual support at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums as well as strengthen supervision roles in enhancing the implementation of inked agreements, making contributions to boosting bilateral relationship. 

The occasion, State President Quang conveyed National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan’s invitation to Speaker  Ali Abdel Aal to pay an official visit to VietNam. The Egyptian top legislator accepted the invitation with pleasure.

On the same day, in a meeting with Egyptian PM Mostafa Madbouly, State President Quang recommended the two nations’ Governments accelerate delegation exchanges and market study in the fields of energy, telecommunications, garment and leather shoes, food processing, and metallurgy.

He proposed Egypt complete domestic procedures for the agreement on double taxation avoidance to soon take effect and create favorable conditions for Viet Nam to bring its farm produce (peppercorn, coffee and tea), and aquatic products (tra and basa fish) into Egyptian supermarkets.

The Egyptian leader confirmed to direct relevant ministries and sectors to effectively implement the signed agreements as well as make meticulous preparations for the 6th meeting of the Viet Nam-Egypt Inter-governmental Committee to be held in Egypt in 2019 as well as facilitate Vietnamese enterprises in making investment in Egypt.

At the meeting, both sides agreed to carry out the Halal standard program for Vietnamese exports to Muslim market in general and Egypt in particular. 

State President Quang conveyed PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s invitation to Mr. Mostafa Madbouly to pay visit to Viet Nam and the Egyptian PM gladly accepted.
