Meanwhile, Party leader Trong reaffirmed Viet Nam’s consistent policy of considering Russia as one of its key and highly trusted partners.

The Party chief took the occasion to express gratitude to Russian people for their valuable support and assistance for Viet Nam in the past and at present.

The two leaders showed their pleasure at the comprehensive advancements of the bilateral ties over the past time, agreeing that the long-lasting relationship is the precious asset of the two nations that should be further nurtured and promoted.

Both sides agreed to continue regular high-level contacts and delegation exchanges, political consultations, and strategic dialogues across party, government, legislative, ministerial and local channels.

The pair vowed to ceaselessly consolidate their political trust to serve as foundation for accelerating and expanding the two countries’ comprehensive cooperation.

They agreed to coordinate in organizing Russia Year in Viet Nam and Viet Nam Year in Russia on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of signing Treaty on fundamental principles of the Viet Nam-Russia friendly ties in 2019 and on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations in 2020.

The two leaders were glad as bilateral economic and trade linkages have advanced quickly since the Viet Nam-Eurasia Economic Union free trade agreement came into effect in October 2016.

They agreed to seek more measures to fully exploit the trade pact, improve the effectiveness of the Inter-governmental Committee and encourage cooperation projects in such fields like energy, oil and gas, agriculture, urban infrastructure development, information and telecommunication among others.

The two sides pledged to continue close and fruitful coordination in defense and security and deployment of the project on building an nuclear science and technology center in Viet Nam, considering it a key science and technology project between the two countries.

The leaders also agreed to step up cooperation in other important domains like education and training, culture, tourism, and local-to-local cooperation.

Both sides shared views on regional and international issues of common concern. They underlined the need to settle disputes through peaceful measures on the basis of the principles of international laws and the United Nations Charter.

Viet Nam backs Russia’s greater role in ensuring security, peace, stability and cooperation in Asia-Pacific, Southeast Asia and the world.

Party leader Trong invited President Putin to visit Viet Nam in 2019 and the latter gladly accepted the invitation./.
