VN, Hungary lift up ties to comprehensive partnership

VGP – Viet Nam and Hungary have agreed to lift up their bilateral ties to comprehensive partnership on the occasion of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s ongoing visit to the European country.

Hungary highly values Viet Nam’s rising role and position and regards the country as a top partner in Southeast Asia, said Hungarian PM Viktor Orban during his talks with Vietnamese Party chief Trong in Budapest on Monday.

Meanwhile, Party leader Trong asserted Viet Nam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Hungary.

The two leaders agreed to further strengthen high-level exchanges and contacts, political consultation as well as strategic dialogues across all Party, Government, legislature, ministerial, and local channels.

Both sides showed their determination to boost effective cooperation in all fields, especially economic, trade, investment, defense, education and training spheres.

The two countries also agreed to enhance consultations on regional and international issues of common concerns and coordination at multilateral organizations and forums like the United Nations, ASEAM, and Mekong-Danube frameworks.

Party leader Trong voiced support for Hungary to expand cooperation with ASEAN while Hungarian PM Viktor Orban said he back comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and the European Union.

After the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing ceremony of several documents, including a Memorandum of Understanding on defense cooperation, and a plan on education and training cooperation for the period 2019-2021./.
