Party leader hosts foreign guests attending WEF ASEAN

VGP - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong hosted receptions for Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Hu Chunhua, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese Vice Premier on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on ASEAN (WEF ASEAN) 2018 in Ha Noi on September 12.

At the meeting, Hu Chunhua congratulated Viet Nam on its successful hosting of the WEF ASEAN, as well as the achievements that Viet Nam has gained under the leadership of the CPV.

He affirmed the Chinese Party, Government and people’s treasuring relations with Viet Nam and pledged to promote bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership. 

China is ready to enhance its economic partnership with Viet Nam, while importing more goods from Viet Nam, he said.

In turn, the Party leader called for more bilateral high-level exchanges and implement leaders’ common perception, including the Viet Nam-China agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of sea-related issues.

The same day, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received Indonesian President Joko Widodo who has been in Viet Nam to attend the World Economic Forum on ASEAN (WEF ASEAN) 2018.

At the meeting with Party leader, President Widodo expressed his delight in attending the World Economic Forum on ASEAN (WEF ASEAN) in Hanoi and witnessing Viet Nam’s recent achievements in socio-economic development under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

He briefed the Party leader on the outcome of his meetings with Presidents Tran Dai Quang and PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc, while assuring Indonesia will closely coordinate with Viet Nam in maintaining peace, stability, and cooperation in the region, as well as in building a strong and united ASEAN Community.

He expressed his desire to enhance comprehensive collaboration through the Party, Government, and people channels in future, especially in delegation exchange.

In turn, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed Viet Nam’s unwavering policy of attributing importance to boosting and expanding friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Indonesia and asked the two sides to step up cooperation across a variety of fields, especially in trade, investment, and cultural exchange, as well as within the framework of ASEAN and regional and international forums for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world at large.

On this occasion, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, on behalf of the Party, Government, and people of Viet Nam, extended deep sympathy on the huge losses caused by recent earthquakes in Lombok to President Widodo, the Indonesian Government and its people.
