Diplomat: Singapore confident VN to host successful DPRK-USA Summit

Singaporean Ambassador to Viet Nam Catherine Wong made that statement in an exclusive interview with the Viet Nam Government Portal ahead of the second DPR-USA Summit, scheduled to take place in Ha Noi, the capital city of Viet Nam from February 27-28.

“We wish the US and the DPRK success in implementing their agreements, and hope that dialogue and efforts toward peace will continue,” said the Ambassador. 

As asked about Singapore’s role to host the first Trump-Kim Summit last year, the diplomat said “we saw it as our small contribution to the pursuit of peace and stability for a denuclearised Korean Peninsula.  Regional peace and stability is in the interest of Singapore, as well as the wider region.”

Wong went to to say that first, summit is a step forward in the right direction in building strategic trust, and securing peace and opportunities for development.

Second, the hosting of the Summit by Singapore reaffirms our commitment to be a credible, trusted  and consistent partner on international issues./.
