DPRK Leader to pay official friendly visit to VN from March 1-2

VGP - Chairman of the Workers’ Party and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un will pay an official friendly visit to Viet Nam from March 1-2, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The official friendly visit is made after Mr. Kim Jong Un joins the second DPRK-U.S. Summit with U.S. President Donald Trump from February 27-28 in Ha Noi.

Leader of the DPRK Kim Jong Un arrived at Dong Dang railway station of the border province of Lang Son on February 26 while U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in Ha Noi in the evening of the same day. 

During the first day in Ha Noi, Mr. Kim Jong Un visited the Embassy of the DPRK and called for efforts to consolidate the friendship relations and deep cooperation between the two Parties and countries. 

The KCNA highlights the warm welcome of Vietnamese people on streets to welcome the visit of Mr. Kim Jong Un to Viet Nam. 

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Viet Nam and the DPRK established diplomatic ties on January 31, 1950.  Since then, the two sides have exchanged 50 high-ranking delegations (at the ministerial level). 

A number of agreements have been signed over the recent years including an agreement on civil air transport cooperation agreement on maritime transport, an agreement on trade, the mutual legal assistance agreement, the investment encouragement and protection agreement and double taxation avoidance agreement.
