Kien Giang to welcome 8.3 million visitors in 2019

VGP – The southern province of Kien Giang aims to welcome 8.3 visitors in 2019, up 7.6% against the previous year, of whom 640,000 ones are foreigners, an increase of 7.3% compared to 2018, according to the province’s Department of Tourism.

The province heads to gain VND6,840 billion from tourism in this year, up 7.3%.

In July 2019, as many as 921,146 arrivals to the province were recorded, a year-on-year increase of 13.3%.

The number of foreign visitors in the month hit 50,242 ones, up 2.1% and the number of visiting guests was estimated at 535,439 ones, up 18.8%.

The number of staying visitors saw an increase of 5.6% against the same period last year, reaching 357,273 ones. Kien Giang Province earned VND788.7 billion from tourism in July, up 42.4%.

During the month, Phu Quoc Island welcomed 528,809 visitors, up 28.5%, including 48,167 foreigners, up 5.2%, gaining VND739.8 billion from tourism, up 49.1%.

More than 2.2 million people travelled to Phu Quoc Island over the recent seven months of 2019.
