The program was announced at a press briefing organised by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Can Tho municipal People’s Committee in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, in Japan on August 5.

New highlights of this year’s event include two direct flights from Tokyo and Osaka to Can Tho City to facilitate the event’s activities.

In addition, a Japan-Viet Nam business forum will  be held with the participation of over 300 Japanese enterprises.

In addition, the program will also feature traditional art performances with the participation of artists from both sides.

The Viet Nam-Japan culture and trade exchange had been held in the city for the past four years and has served to deepen partnerships between the two countries' businesses.

As of late June, Viet Nam - Japan import and export turnover hit US$18.5 billion, including US$9.7 billion from exports. Japan had 219 new projects in Viet Nam, bringing the total number of FDI projects to 4,190, ranking second in terms of the number of projects and total registered capital. Notably, Japan has run 10 new  projects in the Mekong River Delta alone, lifting the total number of its FDI projects in the region to 178.

This year's exchange is expected to welcome approximately 300 Japanese businesses to Can Tho City

The event aims to promote trade, investment and culture exchange between the city, as well as other Mekong Delta localities, and Japan.
