MoLISA inks labor MoU with Nagano Prefecture

Representatives of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs (MoLISA) and the Nagano Prefecture (Japan) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on manpower development on August 14 in Ha Noi. 

The MoU forges a cooperative framework for sending and reception of Vietnamese interns and workers in tourism and nurse aide in Nagano Prefecture (Japan).  

Nagano Prefecture Governor Abe Shuichi said that local average life expectancy tops the world. Population aging problem has caused labor shortage especially in the care and support for the elderly and tourism sector. 

So far, Nagano Prefecture has offered a series of incentives for overseas workers especially on housing and language assistance. 

Governor Abe Shuichi added that the prefecture will hold an employment fair in early 2020 to advertize the locality. 

Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Le Tan Dung reported that Viet Nam has already sent 300,000 interns to Japan which was the largest number out of 15 countries sending interns to Japan. In 2018 only, nearly 70,000 Vietnamese interns were sent to Japan, accounting for over a half of total number of interns in Japan. 

Mr. Dung hoped that as Japan is suffering from rapid population aging rate, overseas interns especially those from Viet Nam would supplement the labor shortage there in almost all careers./.
