Top legislator Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan welcomes Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in Ha Noi on August 23, 2019.

Top legislator Ngan spoke highly of the official visit to Viet Nam by Morrison, underlining that the visit would help deepen the strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Australia in a substantial manner across fields.

The Legislature always supports strong relations with Australia - a partner that has played an increasingly important role and position in the Asia-Pacific region and the world, Ngan said.

She extended thanks to the Australian Parliament for having supported the Vietnamese National Assembly to organize parliamentary events, including the 26th annual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26) in January last year.

Morrison said Viet Nam and Australia share joint vision towards peace, development and prosperity for their citizens.

He said Australia will continue support and assistance for Viet Nam in the talks process of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea between ASEAN and China, and in ensuring the rule of law in the East Sea.

The same day, Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh met with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Thinh highly valued the two countries’ efforts in maintaining regular exchange of visits, wishing that Australia will continue close coordination with Viet Nam as the Southeast Asian country will take over ASEAN Chairmanship role and UNSC non-permanent membership in 2020./.
