UK helps Government Office enhance administrative procedure reform

Participants in the ceremony included Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, UK Ambassador to Viet Nam Gareth Ward and representatives of other ministries and agencies. 

The MoU aims to establish a cooperative relationship in ensuring the realization of the administrative reform in Viet Nam in line with functions, tasks and rights of related sides, each nation’s laws and international conventions Viet Nam and the UK have joined.

It consists of seven articles, defining the scope, cooperation and assistance models and issues related to cooperation and support in guaranteeing the implementation of administrative procedure reform in Viet Nam, improving the capacity of public servants in connecting and counseling with the private sector, enhancing critical and consultative skills on reforming administrative regulations for State agencies. 

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Gareth Ward said that the MoU, within the framework of the Prosperity Fund of the UK Government, supports partner countries in improving reforms and developing economy to reduce poverty and head to comprehensive development. 

Viet Nam is among the world’s economies with fastest growth and a crucial partner in the UK’s action programs, he said, expressing his delight on the UK’s stable foundation to help Viet Nam fulfill set priorities. 

The MoU has manifested the strong efforts and commitments and desires for cooperation and support from all sides in launching administrative procedure reform in Viet Nam, said Minister Dung, stressing that the nation is reforming administrative procedures, improving the business environment and establishing an e-Government, heading to the establishment of digital Government, economy and society. 

The MoU takes effect from the date of the signing ceremony and will be expired by March 31, 2021. It will be extended in the time to come.
