Finland highly values VN’s int’l position

VGP – Prime Minister Antti Rinne spoke highly of Viet Nam’s socio-economic development achievements and international position at his meeting with visiting Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh on Thursday.

Rinne said Finland expects to further foster cooperation with Viet Nam across fields like economy, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, education among others.

He vowed to accelerate the ratification of the Viet Nam-EU free trade agreement (EVFTA) and Viet Nam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) so that the deals would be implemented soon, creating fresh impetus for trade and investment ties between Viet Nam and the European countries, including Finland.

Meanwhile, Binh affirmed Viet Nam treasures the friendship and cooperation with Finland, highlighting the bilateral ties have been consolidated and promoted over the past nearly 50 years.

He conveyed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s invitation to Prime Minister Antii Rinne to visit Viet Nam. Rinne accepted the invitation and promised to arrange a visit to Viet Nam in 2020.

Both sides agreed to step up coordination at international forums in a bid to contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world, ensuring the respect of international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, promoting multilateral cooperation in addressing common challenges.

The same day, Binh met with Finnish Minister of Social Affairs and Health Aino-Kaisa Pokenen to discuss bilateral cooperation in developing social security policies./.
