Gov’t issues plan to better implement Int’l Covenant on Civil and Political Rights

VGP – The Government has approved a plan figuring out measures to strengthen effectiveness of implementing the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and recommendations by the United Nations Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR).

Under the plan, Viet Nam will continue improving legal framework for deployment of the Covenant, including regulations on prevention of discrimination while maintain effective implementation of regulations on the civil and political rights.

The country will step up dissemination of the content of the ICCPR in a bid to improve awareness of the Covenant among education management staff, teachers and pupils.

It will also prepare periodical reports on the implementation of the ICCPR and recommendations by the UNCHR and continue considering the establishment of the national human rights organ in accordance with its real economic, cultural and social conditions.
