In 2018, the number of Vietnamese interns was 70,000, accounting for over 50% of those in Japan. Hence, Viet Nam took the lead out of 15 countries sending interns to Japan.

Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Le Tan Dung said that Viet Nam yearly dispatches thousands of technical laborers to Japan.

At present, over 30,000 Vietnamese technical laborers are working in Japanese factories. Japan is struggling with the aging population. Hence, the foreign labor supply is expected to offset the shortage of laborers./.
