At the meeting, the two leaders noted that the Viet Nam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has been developing well over the past years.
PM Phuc said Viet Nam highly values India’s important role in the region, voicing his strong support for India’s Act East Policy.
Meanwhile, PM Modi congratulated Viet Nam on taking over the ASEAN Chairmanship and UNSC non-permanent membership, expressing his belief that Viet Nam will successfully fulfill the double role.
The pair agreed that both countries should further accelerate cooperation in trade and investment, defense, oil and gas, agriculture, healthcare, culture, and tourism while welcoming newly opened air routes between the sides.
Regarding the East Sea issue, the two PMs reiterated the stance of maintaining peace and security, ensuring legitimate rights and interests of the littoral countries in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and protecting the legal maritime order.
The same day, PM Phuc attended the 14th East Asia Summit, 22nd ASEAN PLus Three Summit, 7th ASEAN-US Summit, 22nd ASEAN-Japan Summit, 3rd RCEP Summit.
At the closing ceremony of the 35th ASEAN Summit and related Summit the same day, Viet Nam will take over the ASEAN Chairmanship from Thailand./.
