Quang Ninh hosts 19th Asia-Pacific ICT Alliance Awards 2019

VGP - The 19th Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards (APICTA Awards) is taking place in Quang Ninh province, welcoming 1,000 delegates, including 650 from 16 member countries.

The 19th Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards (APICTA Awards) is taking place in the Northern province of Quang Ninh

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dang Huy Hau said the event affords Quang Ninh a chance to access technological advances at home and abroad towards building a digital economy while promoting trade, investment and tourism.

The award categories are: consumer, inclusions and community services, industry, business services, public sector, and government, which include research and development, start-ups, big data analytics, Internet-of-Things, and artificial intelligence. Of the 324 nominations, 47 are from Vietnam. 

In addition, an international seminar on digital transformation and smart city development, a business-to-business matching session between Viet Nam and foreign partners, an exhibition on Viet Nam’s outstanding IT products and services, and an exchange between Vietnamese and foreign ICT students will also be held.

The APICTA Awards is an international awards programme organised by APICTA, aiming to stimulate ICT innovation and creativity, promote economic and trade relations, facilitate technology transfer, and offer business matching opportunities via exposure to venture capitalists and investors. The awards is considered the “Oscar of the ICT arena in Asia-Pacific” and is held annually and alternately in APICTA member countries.  This has been the first time Viet Nam hosts the event. 

In 2018, Viettel helped Viet Nam set a foothold in the continental technology map as its ViettelPay claimed the first prize in the category “Bussiness Service - Finance & Marketing”.

Asia-Pacific ICT Alliance Awards 2019 activities wrap up on November 22.
