At the conference, all ASEAN member nations recognized and spoke highly of ASEAN’s open cooperation mechanism with its partner and dialogue countries. Accordingly, the active cooperation and support of partner and dialogue countries in the fields of information sharing, capacity building and technical equipment supply have contributed significantly to strengthening the effectiveness in the efforts of ASEAN countries and the whole bloc to prevent and combat transnational crime.

Addressing the event, Minister To Lam highlighted the importance of the cooperation mechanism between ASEAN and China, the Republic of Korea and Japan over the past two decades, which, he said, has contributed to peace, security and development of the East Asian region.

Viet Nam welcomes the support efforts of the three aforementioned countries for ASEAN’s law enforcement forces over recent times, he said.

Lam urged the sides concerned to continue implementing the ASEAN 3 plan of action on preventing and combating terrorism and transnational crime for 2018-2020.
