Enkhbold is heading a high-level Mongolian military delegation to pay an official visit to Viet Nam from November 28 to December 1.

The visit aims to maintain the traditional relations, contributing to strengthening political trust between the two countries and armies, while creating strong transformation in bilateral defense relations and promoting cooperation in the fields of military and defense in a reliable, substantial and effective manner.

At the meeting on Thursday, the two ministers discussed the regional and global issues and reviewed the cooperation outcomes between the two defense ministries over the past few years.

They affirmed that the Viet Nam-Mongolia traditional relations, founded by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Yumjaagiin Tsedenbal, has continued to be cultivated by generations of the two countries’ leaders and has kept growing.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 65 years ago, the bilateral relationship has thrived in many areas such as diplomacy, economy, trade, investment, agriculture and education while political trust has been strengthened.

Particularly in 2013, the two defense ministries inked a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation, under which they agreed to facilitate collaboration in the exchange of delegations, training, the United Nations peacekeeping operations, and natural disaster response.

They vowed to step up defence cooperation within the framework of an agreement between the two governments, including the establishment of a joint working group to boost ties in foreign language training, military medicine, culture and arts, military sports, the UN peacekeeping mission, logistics and defence industry.

In order to accelerate Viet Nam-Mongolia defense ties in an extensive, substantial and effective manner, the two sides agreed to actively implement cooperation activities within the framework of the agreement between the two Governments in the near future.

Following the talks, the two ministers signed a government-level agreement on defense cooperation.
