In 2019, the total value of import, export, sale and exchange of goods through border gates at the locality is estimated at US$7.2 billion, up 23% against the same period last year and fulfilling the set plan, of which the exports and imports hit US$2.568 billion and US$1.134 billion, respectively.

Deputy head of the province’s department of industry and trade Nguyen Truong Giang said that the province and Yunnan Province have always enhanced cooperation and friendship, upholding the bridging role in Con Minh-Lao Cai-Ha Noi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh Economic Corridor and ASEAN-China Free Trade Area.

The two sides agreed to allow five Vietnamese fruits including dragon fruit, watermelon, litchi, banana and mango to be imported through Kim Thanh International Border Gate between Viet Nam's Lao Cai and China's Yunnan.

The province’s department of industry and trade continues joining hands with China to boost exports and imports and customs clearance such as the establishment of Lao Cai-He Kou International border gate pairs, holding talks to tackle difficulties in exports-imports activities and attracting logistics firms to invest in logistics centers.
