Inbound tourism breaks new record in 2019

VGP – Foreign arrivals to Viet Nam rose to a record high of 18 million in 2019, the General Department of Tourism has reported.

Foreign arrivals to Viet Nam from 2011 to 2019

The figure increased by 16.2% from the previous year, in which visitors travelled by air, road and sea climbed up 15.2%, 20.4% and 22.7%, respectively.

Arrivals from Asia took the lead, making up 79.9% and up 19.1%, followed by ones from Europe, America and Africa with respective growth pace of 6.4%, 7.7% and 12.2%.

Viet Nam was named as the “World's Best Golf Destination 2019” and the “World's Leading Heritage Destination 2019”.

The country ranks 63rd among 140 countries and territories in the recently released Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) 2019, jumping four places compared to the latest 2017 ranking.

In 2020, Viet Nam expects to welcome around 20.5 million foreign visitors, serving for 90 million domestic guests with total estimated revenue of VND830,000 billion.
