The Government chief made the point on January 6 in Ha Noi while delivering a speech at a conference on 2020 business investigation.

An official from the GSO reported that the office finalized GDP scale assessment in the 2010-2017 period with a view to reflecting the national economic landscape in an accurate manner and providing a more practical instrument for the Government.

PM Phuc stressed that statistical data are subjective, accurate and in accordance with the law. He affirmed that Vietnamese leaders have never ever requested the General Statistics Office (GSO) amend statistical data on national socio-economic development.

In 2018, Vie Nam ranked 19th out off 145 countries and territories in the World Bank’s statistical capacity index and was placed at the second position in the Southeast Asian region.

Regarding 2020 orientations, PM Phuc tasked the statistical sector to perfect operation to timely serve for Government’s management and direction and provide full socio-economic performance indicators for citizens and enterprises.

The Government chief also noticed the importance of raising statistical information quality especially analysis and forecast.

The Viet Nam statistical development strategy and big projects should be implemented in 2020.

PM Phuc also asked leaders to focus on manpower training especially young and female staff and attract talents to the sector./.
