Alpha Travel Insurance: Ha Noi, cheapest city for backpacking in Asia

Three Vietnamese cities are named in the list including the capital city of Ha Noi, Hoi An City in the central province of Quang Nam and Ho Chi Minh City. 

Alpha Travel Insurance has revealed which cities in Asia are the most affordable for backpacking based on the cost, per day, of a hostel, transportation, meals, drinks and attractions. 

Backpacking is the type of travelling that gives travelers the opportunity to visit a number of locations and experience a whole host of different cuisines, attractions and scenery in the space of a few weeks. 

According to the article of Alpha Travel Insurance, Ha Noi is the cheapest city in Asia. If budget is key, the northern Vietnamese capital of Ha Noi is a must-visit location in Asia offering the best value, with a total daily spend of just £14.24 (US$18.30). That includes a full day’s food, drinks, attractions, transport as well as an overnight stay (back-packer style). HaNoi is famous for its rich historical heritage as well as its huge range of street food available to try and taste.

Three cities in Viet Nam appear in the top 5 in the research, with Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh and Hoi An coming in 1st, 3rd and 5th place.

Ha Noi welcomed 21.5 million visitors in the first nine months of 2019, of whom 4.7 million were foreigners, a year-on-year increase of 10.1%.
