Novel coronavirus prevention, control working group set up

VGP – The Prime Minister has inked Decision No. 172/QĐ-TTg dated January 31, 2020 on the establishment of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) epidemic prevention and control working group at the Government Office.

The working group is led by Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung.

Members of the group include Vice Chairman of the Government Office Nguyen Sy Hiep, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs To Anh Dung, Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Van Son and Deputy Minister of National Defense Tran Don.

The working group is tasked for updating information about prevention and control of the epidemic, making daily report to the Prime Minister and putting forwards measures to contain the epidemic.

The working group will be dissolved when all tasks are completed.

The same day, the Ministry of Health affirmed that none of the novel coronavirus patients has been reported dead in Viet Nam.

Also the same day, local authorities of the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa confirmed that a female hotel receptionist has contracted the novel coronavirus from two Chinese nationals presently quarantined in Ho Chi Minh City.

The latest infection case sends the total number of the novel Coronavirus patients to 6.

Earlier on January 30, Prime Minister Phuc established a steering committee on prevention of acute respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus, led by Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam./.
