50 localities postpone school reopening for fear of novel Coronavirus

VGP – As of February 3, 50 out of 63 provincies and cities have decided to postpone school reopening in a bid to prevent the novel Coronavirus spread, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.

Specifically, all schools will remain close for an extra week and will resume on February 10 in Vinh Phuc, Thanh Hoa, Ha Noi, Kien Giang, Long An, Binh Thuan, Can Tho, Vinh Long, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tay Ninh, Ha Giang, Hung Yen, Lai Chau, Da Nang, Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Dong Nai, Soc Trang, Ha Nam, Dong Thap, Hoa Binh, Ninh Binh, Tuyen Quang, An Giang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Lang Son, Gia Lai, Thai Binh, Binh Dinh, Thai Nguyen Phu Yen, Son La, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, Dak Lak, Thua Thien-Hue, Hai Duong, Yen Bai, Quang Tri, Ha Tinh.

Meanwhile, schools at all levels will resume on February 4 in Hau Giang and Cao Bang; and on February 5 in Tien Giang, Lao Cai, Ninh Thuan, Hai Phong.

Schools in Quang Binh will resume on February 11.

 Earlier, Prime Nguyen Xuan Phuc assigned the Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Health to direct localities to postpine reopening of kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, and high schools. 

The Chairmen of municipal and provincial People’s Committees are responsible for making specific decisions in accordance with local circumstances./.
