Li Zichao, aged 28, and his father were the first two positive cases confirmed in Viet Nam since the Wuhan virus outbreak in China.

The virus has claimed 427 lives, including one in the Philippines and one in Hong Kong, China, and sickened 20,631 others.

In Viet Nam, the 9th infection case was confirmed by the Ministry of Health on Tuesday morning.

Amid fear of fast spread of the novel coronavirus epidemic, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Monday ordered quarantine of all travellers who come from or transit through the nCoV-affected areas in China.

He tasked competent authorities to strictly supervise and seriously disinfect houses and accommodations as well as surrounding areas where suspected patients live.

Earlier on January 30, the Government chief established a steering committee on prevention of the epidemic, led by Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam.

The steering committee is responsible for assisting the Prime Minister in directing ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and localities to prevent and control the epidemic./.
