VN successfully cultures nCoV as infections climb

VGP - The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology said Friday that it has successfully grown and isolated the novel coronavirus (nCoV), paving the way for fast diagnosis of the virus.

This is the first time Vietnamese scientists successfully cultures the nCoV.

The success will allow lay foundation for the scientists to research and develop a vaccine for the virus and to design more effective preventive measures in the future.

According to the Ministry of Health, 31,482 people have contracted the virus while death toll rose to 639 as of Friday morning.

In Viet Nam, health sector has confirmed 12 infection cases so far and three of them have been cleared of the virus and discharged from hospital.

In addition, nearly 500 others, who have close contact with nCoV patients, have been quarantined and waiting for test results.

The Government of Viet Nam considers fighting the nCoV epidemic is the top task to protect public health and life while at the same time exploring concrete measures to boost trade exchanges with China in a bid to mitigate negative impacts of the nCoV outbreak./.
