At the event, the committee members discussed the repatriation of Vietnamese citizens from Wuhan city, isolation work, medical equipment, production of test kits, vaccine research, and epidemiological safety at tourist sites.

Deputy PM Dam, who is head of the steering committee, hailed Lao Cai’s initiative in developing a designated team of drivers in charge of transporting goods across border gate, suggesting that the initiative should be applied at other border gates.

Dam tasked ministries and localities to strictly follow quarantine measures in a bid to contain the spread of the virus.

Regarding nCoV diagnosis, Viet Nam houses 22 facilities capable of conducting nCoV tests and the number could increase to 30 if mobilized, according to the Ministry of Health.

As Vietnamese scientists have conducted research to produce kits to shorten time for nCoV test, the committee tasked the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology to coordinate closely with the scientists to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of these kits and create most favorable conditions for production of the test kits.

The nCoV epidemic has claimed 910 deaths and sickened 40,620 others across the globe as of 4:00 pm on Monday.

In Viet Nam, six out of 14 confirmed nCoV patients have been cleared of the virus and discharged from hospital. The recovered patients include three workers from Vinh Phuc province and one Chinese tourist Li Zichao./.
