Sam Son historical relic and scenery recognized as special national relic site

VGP – The Prime Minister recently issued Decision No. 1954/QD-TTg dated December 31, 2019 recognizing seven more special national relics nationwide, including the Sam Son historical relic and scenery in Sam Son city, Thanh Hoa province.

Doc Cuoc Temple

The Sam Son scenery, which includes Truong Le Mountain, Doc Cuoc Temple, Cockfight Stone, To Hien Thanh Temple and Co Tien (Fairy) Temple, was rated as a national relic by the Ministry of Culture (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in its Decision No. 313-VH/VP dated April 28, 1962.

The Sam Son scenic area has beautiful natural landscapes and is a place that combines natural landscapes with architectural works of historical and cultural values. It is also a biodiverse area (special-use forest), and features unique traditional cultural festivals held annually, such as the Banh Chung-Banh Day Festival, Cau Ngu Festival - a festival to pray for a good fishing harvest, boat racing festival and festivals of Doc Cuoc, Co Tien and To Hien Thanh Temples.

More than one year after being submitted for consideration, the Sam Son historical relic and scenery have officially been recognized as a special national relic. This is an honor and a well-deserved achievement for the efforts of Sam Son city in particular and Thanh Hoa province as a whole.

The proposal to recognize the Sam Son scenery as a special national relic site aims to preserve and further promote the tangible and intangible cultural values of the locality, contributing to developing more tourist products and facilitating the development of the smoke-free industry in Sam Son city.

In 2019, Sam Son city welcomed 4.95 million arrivals of visitors, an increase of 15.5% from the previous year, raking in a revenue of VND4.6 trillion, up 25.68% against 2018.

The city has also made great efforts and implemented many solutions to build a civilized and friendly tourism environment with the criteria of improving the quality and gradually standardizing tourism services in the locality./.
