VN confirms 16th Covid-19 patient

VGP - The Ministry of Health on Thursday morning confirmed the 16th novel coronavirus (Covid-19) patient.

The latest infection case is father of a previously announced worker in Son Loi commune, Binh Xuyen district, Vinh Phuc province.
 
The 50-year-old man is the 3rd member of the worker's family and the 11th patient contracting the virus in Vinh Phuc province.
 
Hit hardest by the Covid-19 oubreak, the local authorities on Wednesday decided to set up five more checkpoints around Son Loi commune of Binh Xuyen district for 24-hour control in the latest effort to contain spread of the epidemic.

All the commune's residents shall not be allowed to leave the affected area for the next 20 days, applicable since February 13.

The checkpoints now increase to eight, according to Le Duy Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Vinh Phuc Provincial People’s Committee.

The number of infection cases tends to rise in Son Loi commune, he said.

“Everything is under control”, affirmed Thanh, adding that the locality has exerted all efforts and is confident to contain the epidemic.

Vinh Phuc also approved a proposal of the Department of Education and Training to postpone reopening of schools at all levels until February 23.

Earlier, Vinh Phuc had set up a field hospital with 300 beds for quarantining and treating Covid-19 patients

A quarantine area with 200 beds was also arranged in Vinh Yen city./.
