VN invests US$30.3 million overseas in two months

VGP - Vietnamese businesses invested US$30.3 million abroad in the first two months of 2020, according to the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Of that number, US$21.4 million was poured into 20 new projects while the remaining US$8.9 million was pledged to two existing projects.

The FIA said restaurant and catering services received the lion's share of Vietnamese investment at US$14.3 million, 48% of the total.

The manufacturing and processing sector ranked second with US$8.9 million or 29.4%, followed by the wholesale and retail sector, logistics, and other services. 

Among the 12 countries and territories where Vietnamese investors were active in the first two months, the U.S. was the largest recipient with US$20 million, followed by Cambodia with US$8.9 million or 29.5%. Others were Hong Kong (China), the United Kingdom and Myanmar.

Vietnamese enterprises invested US$508.14 million abroad in 2019. The amount included US$403.15 million worth of newly registered capital in 164 projects and US$105 million worth of additional capital pledged for 29 existing projects./.
