The Vietnamese Embassy in the U.S. confirmed that the two Vietnamese Americans live in Washington State.

The first case was a woman born in 1946 and living in Seattle city. She was suspected to have contracted the virus at a nursing home on March 9.

She was immediately admitted to a medical centre for check-ups, and later tests proved she was infected with the virus.

The woman died after a week-long stay in hospital.

The second case is a elderly blind man living in another nursing home in the state. He developed fever on March 12 and tested positive for the virus. The patient was hospitalized for intensive care but died within less than 24 hours afterwards.

Earlier, the nursing home had previously reported first COVID-19 deaths, but those who had been in close contacts with the patients were not required to have check-ups if they did not showed serious symptoms./.
