Danish woman among six new COVID-19 infection cases, total increases to 169

VGP – The Ministry of Health on March 18 has confirmed six more COVID-19 infection cases, including one Danish citizen, raising the total COVID-19 patients in Viet Nam to 169.

Patient 164 is a 23-year old male student from Rach Gia city of the southern province of Kien Giang.

He landed in Van Don Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh on March 23 on Viet Nam Airlines flight VN0054 from the UK.

Upon his arrival, he was taken to a centralized quarantine facility in the northern province of Ninh Binh.

He is being treated at Ninh Binh General Hospital with his health reportedly in stable condition.  

Patient 165 is a 58-year old man, residing in Dong Anh, Ha Noi.

He was passenger on the same flight with the mentioned-above COVID-19 patient and has also been quarantined in Ninh Binh Province.

Patient 166 is a 25-year old Vietnamese woman who has been living in Thailand.

She returned to Viet Nam on March 20 on Thai Airways flight TG564 and has been treated at Ninh Binh General Hospital with the aforesaid men.

Patient 167 is a 20-year old Danish woman who arrived in Viet Nam with her friend on March 8 on flight QR0976.

She stayed at a hotel at Hang Chieu Street, Hoan Kiem District, Ha Noi from March 9-12.

From March 12-19 she visited Ha Giang Province, retured to Ha Noi before going to Hue city in Thua Thien-Hue Province and Hoi An of Quang Nam Province.

On March 23, she travelled from Da Nang City to Ha Noi on flight VJ530.

The pair were tested at the National Children's Hospital on March 24 and outcomes show that she was positive for the virus while her friend has been negative.

Both of them were then taken to the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh District, Ha Noi.

Patient 168 and Patient 169 are 49-year old women working at Bach Mai Hospital, providing hot water for patients in the hospital.

Among 169 COVID-19 patients confirmed in Viet Nam so far, 21 have revered and exited from hospitals, and five are expected to be discharged from hospitals in the next two days.
