Five new COVID-19 infection cases confirmed, total rises to 179

VGP – The Ministry of Health has confirmed five more COVID-19 infection cases, including four linked to Bach Mai Hospital cluster, raising the patient tally to 179.

Patients numbered 175, 176, 177 and 178 are employees of Truong Sinh Company which provides food and logistics services to the Bach Mai Hospital.

Patient 175 is a 57-year old man who had been reportedly in contact with many people.

Patient 176 is a 39-year old woman who had been reportedly in contact with many people.

Patient 177 is a 49-year old woman who had been reportedly in contact with many people.

Patient 178 is a 44-year old woman who is has been quarantined and treated in Dai Tu District, Thai Nguyen Province.

Patient 179 is a 62-year old resident in Ha Dong District, Ha Noi, who returned home on March 18 on flight EK394.

The person has been quarantined and treated at a centralized quarantine facility in Thanh Hoa Province.

On March 28, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam ordered Bach Mai Hospital, Ha Noi authorities and Ministry of Health to concentrate resources on controlling the hospital’s COVID-19 cluster.

The move was made as the hospital has emerged to be the biggest COVID-19 cluster in Viet Nam after detection of six infection cases linked to the hospital.

Of the total COVID-19 infection cases confirmed in Viet Nam so far, 21 have recovered and left hospitals while the rest have been treated at 20 medical facilities across the country.

The current patients include three serious cases who have been treated at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District./.
