VN hands over medical supplies to help Laos fight COVID-19

VGP - Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung handed over medical supplies worth over VND7 billion (more than US$300,000) to Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Somdy Duangdy to help Laos cope with COVID-19 pandemic at a ceremony in Vientiane on April 4.

The medical supplies include protective clothing, medical and anti-septic masks, test kits and a Realtime PCR testing system.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese Government Office also presented boxes of medical masks to the Lao Prime Minister's Office, while the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology granted 500 test kits worth VND250 million to the Lao counterpart.

The Vietnamese ministries, agencies and localities will continue supporting Laos in the upcoming time, Hung asserted.

Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Somdy Duangdy expressed thanks to the Vietnamese Party, Government and people for their invaluable and timely support for Laos, committing to use these medical equipments effectively.

On the occasion, he also thanked the Vietnamese Government for creating favorable conditions and providing care for Lao people and students in the country.

Earlier on April 3 night, Viet Nam Airlines carried the medical supplies weighing about 4.8 tons to Wattay international airport in Vientiane.
