Gov’t issues decree on Viet Nam’s special preferential import tariff for Cuba during 2020-2023

VGP – The Government has issued Decree No. 39/2020/ND-CP on Viet Nam’s Special Preferential Import Tariff for the implementation of the Viet Nam-Cuba Trade Agreement during the period of 2020-2023.

Accordingly, goods subject to preferential treatment under the agreement must be imported and directly transported from Cuba into Viet Nam in accordance with the bilateral trade agreement.

In addition, imports must meet the provisions on goods origin in the deal and have certificates of origin (C/O) Form VN-CU.

Goods imported from Viet Nam’s non-tariff areas into the domestic market will be eligible for the agreement’s special preferential import tariff if they fully satisfy the aforementioned requirements.    

Customs declarations of goods listed in the enclosed tariffs, which are registered from April 1 to May 20, 2020, will be subject to special preferential import duty as prescribed in the decree provided that they meet the requirements.

In the process of implementing the decree, if the reference documents in the decree are revised, supplemented or replaced, the decree will be implemented pursuant to the amended, supplemented or replaced documents.

The decree takes effect from May 20, 2020./.
