One more "Rice ATM" to help the poor amid COVID-19 outbreaks

VGP – The first "rice ATM" began operation on April 17 in Tan Mai Ward in Ha Noi’s Hoang Mai District to help non one left behind in the current fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The poor can take 3 kilograms of rice

This is the second "rice ATM" in Viet Nam after the Government imposed nationwide social distancing since April 1 to curb the spread of the virus.

Each poor people can collect 3 kilograms of rice to survive the pandemic as shops are required to close at least until April 22 or April 30 depending on development of the outbreaks.

Ms. Hoang Yen, a representative of the sponsors, said at least 10 tons of rice will be dispensed through this machine.

Earlier, Hoang Tuan Anh, an entrepreneur in Ho Chi Minh City, decided to lend help those in need by invention of the first rice ATM in the city through which the poor can take 1.5 kilograms of rice.

Anh had planned to dispense 500 kilograms of rice per day, but distributed nearly one ton on the first. Since, he has had many offers of support./.
