VN calls on G20 to take collective responses against COVID-19 pandemic

VGP – Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Health Truong Quoc Cuong called on 20 major economies to take collective responses to cope with COVID-19 crisis.

He made the call at a virtual meeting of health ministers from the G20 countries, which was held in Saudi Arabia on April 19. 

Cuong briefed about Viet Nam’s strategies to battle the coronavirus outbreak, including high-determination of the whole political system, early establishment of central steering committee for COVID-19 prevention and control, and effective cooperation from the public.

The nation quickly has employed an approach of early prevention, early detection, timely isolation to prevent the spread of the virus and focused on treatment with the support from top doctors and experts through online platforms to help hospitals in curing the patients.

He called on more dialogue mechanisms to combat COVID-19 and deal with the common challenge in favor of peace and stability in the region and the world; economic cooperation and experience sharing.

As the United Nations’ leading public health body, the World Health Organization (WHO) should continue to take the lead in mobilizing resources and coordinating efforts especially vaccine development, medicines, provision of medical facilities and equipment, Cuong said. 

Finally, Viet Nam called upon full compliance with the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005) and support for countries with underdeveloped health system./.
