Top doctors discuss lung transplant for British COVID-19 patient

VGP – Top Vietnamese doctors convened a meeting this morning to consider the possibility of lung transplant for British COVID-19 patient who has been in critical conditions.

The patient, aged 43, was confirmed having the virus in Viet Nam on March 19 after visiting the Buddha Bar which was subsequently identified as a COVID-19 cluster in Ho Chi Minh City.

He has suffered from a blood clotting disorder and “cytokine storm” syndrome and been totally dependent on a life support machine called Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (OCMO), according to the Ministry of Health.

As of 6 pm on Sunday, the total number of COVID-19 infection cases in Viet Nam remained unchanged at 288, of whom 241 have recovered.

The current 47 active cases are being treated at six central and provincial-level hospitals./.
