One of the donors is a woman and the other is an ex-serviceman aged over 40 and 70, respectively, according to the ministry.

The British patient, aged 43, was confirmed having the virus in Viet Nam on March 19 after visiting the Buddha Bar which subsequently emerged as a COVID-19 cluster in Ho Chi Minh City.

He has been treated at the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases. As of this morning, he did not have fever and his blood pressure was stable but he was still dependent on ventilation and needed blood infiltration.

His CT results on May 13 showed severe solidification and fibrosis of the lungs, making it difficult for oxygen to get into the patient’s blood.

Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, top Vietnamese doctors joined a teleconference to discuss possible lung transplant for the patient.

As of 6:30 pm on May 13, the total number of COVID-19 infection cases remained unchanged at 288, including 148 imported cases.

As many as 252 patients have been cleared of the virus, accounting for 88% of the nation’s patient tally.

The current active cases are being treated at six central and provincial-level hospitals and most of them are in stable health conditions./.
