Nearly 50 people volunteer to donate lungs to British COVID-19 patient

VGP – A 62-year old woman returning from Russia on flight VN0062 become the lastest COVID-19 infection case in Viet Nam, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said Saturday morning.

The woman is a native in Thieu Hoa, central province of Thanh Hoa. She landed in Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh Province on May 13 and was sent to a centralized quarantine camp in Chi Linh, Hai Duong Province.

She is being treated at Hai Duong General Hospital with symptoms like fever and cough.

With this new case, the patient tally in Viet Nam reached 314, of whom174 are imported.

As many as 260 patients have been cleared of the virus and discharged from hospitals. The current 54 patients have been treated at eight hospitals nationwide.

Till late May 15, as many as 50 Vietnamese people have volunteered to donate part of their lungs to the British pilot (patient numbered 91), who is in critical condition.   

Today marks the 30th consecutive without new COVID-19 infection case in the community, the steering committee said/..
