No new community COVID-19 infections in 83 days, recovery rate reaching 93.5%

VGP – Three more COVID-19 patients in Ba Ria-Vung Tau General Hospital have been cleared of the virus on July 7, raising the total recovered patients to 345, making up 93.5%, according to the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control on early Wednesday.

The latest recovered patients are patients numbered 340 (a 33-year-old man), 341 (a 35-year-old man) and 350 (a 36-year-old man).

As of 6:00 am on July 8, Viet Nam confirmed 369 patients, including 229 imported cases who were immediately quarantined upon arrival.

The recovered cases include 50 foreign patients who have been successfully treated in the nation.

Among the current 24 active cases, two were tested negative for the virus once and seven tested negative at least twice.

Regarding the most critically ill COVID-19 patient in Viet Nam, patient 91, the British pilot, he has gone 112 days of treatment at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases and Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the plan between the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the British Embassy in Viet Nam, Cho Ray Hospital and the health sector are urgently preparing for him to return home on July 12.

At present, 11,373 people, who have been in close contact with COVID-19 patients or come from the pandemic-stricken areas, are put under medical surveillance, including 109 at hospitals, 10,872 at centralized quarantine facilities, and 392 at places of residence.
