Nearly 580 citizens fly home from four countries

VGP – A Viet Nam Airline flight carrying near 270 citizens from Cuba and Germany landed at Van Don International Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh on Friday, said the Foreign Ministry.

The aircraft picked up the citizens at Havana and Frankfurt airports with the assistance from Vietnamese Embassy staff. The passengers include children aged below 18, students who had completed study courses, and tourists stranded due to COVID-19.

To ensure the health of the passengers, precautious measures were implemented during the flight. All of the passsengers were quarantined as currently regulated.

The same day, the ministry said it had recived a letter from 266 citizens who are working for China Petroleum Jili Chemical Engineering and Construction Co.,Ltd (JCC) in Karshi, Uzbekistan.

In the letter, they expressed their wish to return home soon due to difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in Uzbekistan.

Upon hearing the case, the ministry worked with relevant ministies and agencies to discuss measures to assist the citizens and to repatriate them as soon as possible.

* On July 25, the the ministry said two flights carrying 580 citizens from Singapore and Canada landed in Viet Nam.

Official data showed that Viet Nam has organized 64 flights since April 10, bringing home 15,843 citizens from foreign countries and territories./.
