VN reports two more Coronavirus-related fatalities, death toll rises to 13

VGP – Two COVID-19-infected women in Da Nang who entered the end-stage of chronic renal failure died on August 10, bringing the country's death toll to 13, according to Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son.

They are Covid-19 patients numbered 430 and 737.

Patient 430, aged 33, is a resident of Hai Chau District, Da Nang. She suffered from the end-stage of chronic renal failure, heart failure, hypertension, as well as septic shock. 

On July 23, she felt tired and shortness of breath and was admitted to the Department of Nephrology-Endocrinology of the Da Nang Hospital. The patient was tested positive for COVID-19 on July 26. 

On July 30, she was transferred to Hue Central Hospital in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.

She was put on a ventilator on August 1, and a life support machine called extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) on August 3.

On August 9, the patient  suffered critical conditions and respiratory failure and died at 0:30 am on August 10.  

Son said her causes of death include severe pneumonia due to Covid-19, multi-organ dysfunction, the end-stage of chronic renal failure, heart failure, hypertension, as well as septic shock.

Patient 737, aged 47, is a resident of Son Tra District, Da Nang. She suffered from the end-stage of chronic renal failure, heart failure, and hypertension.

On July 27, the patient was quarantined and tested negative for SARS-CoV-2.

On August 4, she had her sample tested for the second time and was confirmed positive test for SARS-CoV-2 and was admitted to the Intensive Care Department of the Da Nang Hospital.

On August 6, she was moved to Ho Vang Medical Center. At 7:30 pm on August 9, she was placed on a ventilator.

At 0:45 am on August 10, she felt into deep coma and gradually lost heartbeat. She passed away at 1:15 am the same day. 

The woman was diagnosed to die of myocardial infarction, heart failure, end-stage of chronic renal failure, and COVID-19. 

Viet Nam reported no new Covid-19 cases this morning, keeping the nation's patient tally at 841, including 395 recovered cases, according to the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control./.
