Two more coronavirus-related deaths confirmed, total fatalities increase to 17

VGP – The Ministry of Health has recently announced two more deaths of COVID-19, bringing the nation’s total fatalities to 17.

Viet Nam confirms 17 deaths of COVID-19 so far.

Patient 832, a 37-year-old man in Huong Hoa, Quang Tri Province, had a history of type 1 diabetes mellitus, long-term fatigue (weight only 30 kg) and heart failure. 

From August 8-10, he received treatment at the Quang Tri Hospital for Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases and had her sample tested for Covid-19. He was confirmed positive for the virus the following day. 

On August 10, he was transferred from the Quang Tri Hospital for Tuberculosis and Lung Disease to Hue Central Hospital Unit 2. 

He suffered respiratory arrest for four times and doctors carried out resuscitation on the patient several times. He died at 10.30 am on August 11. 

Patient 431, a 55-year-old man in Lien Chieu, Da Nang City, died of severe pneumonia caused by Covid-19, end-stage renal failure, septic shock, type 1 diabetes mellitus and multi-organ failure.

From July 26-30, he received treatment at the Da Nang Hospital. He was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on July 27.

On July 31, the patient was transferred from the Da Nang Hospital to the Hue Central Hospital Unit 2. 

From July 31-August 4, he lost consciousness and was put on a ventilator and needed continuous blood transfusion and dialysis.

On August 4, the patient had gastrointestinal hemorrhage, atelectasis, and narcotizing skin infections.

He fell into coma since August 6 and got high fever since August 10. Two days later his heart stopped beating, and he died at 0.30 am of August 12.
