VN confirms 18 new Covid-19 cases, patient tally rises to 929

VGP - The National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control confirmed 18 new Covid-19 cases this afternoon, bringing the patient tally to 929.

Patient 912 is a 27-year old man of Chinese nationality.

He was among seven Chinese nationals illegally entered Viet Nam on July 27 through the Viet Nam-China border and travelled to Ho Chi Minh City by car from July 27-29.

He was found and taken to centralized quarantine camp and had his sample tested on July 30.

On August 1, he was taken to Cu Chi field hospital where he tested negative for the virus twice.

On August 12, he was confirmed positive for the virus after the third test.

Patients 913-927 are residents of Da Nang. They include nine cases linked to the Da Nang Hospital.

Patient 928 is a five-year old boy who is grandson of patient 796.

Patient 929 is a 57-year old woman who is the spouse of patient 796.

With these cases, the total number of Covid-19 patients confirmed since July 25 rose to 461.

As many as 437 patients have been cleared of Covid-19 and 21 others have died of the virus, said the National Steering Committee./.
