VN confirms two new COVID-19 cases, total increases to 1,040

VGP – The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed two new COVID-19 cases this afternoon, taking the country’s patient tally to 1,040.

Patient 1,039 is a 20-year old man from Quang Phuc Commune, Ba Don District, Quang Binh.

He landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on August 27 on the flight VN5063 from Germany.

The man was immediately sent to a centralized quarantine camp in Binh Duong Province.

He is being isolated and treated at the Binh Duong General Hospital.

Patient 1,040 is a 55-year old man in Hoa Phong Ward, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang City.

He received treatment at the Da Nang Hospital from July 23 to August 13 and was then transferred to Hospital 199 of the Ministry of Public Security.

The man tested negative for the first time on August 14 but the second test on August 27 showed that he is positive for the virus.

There have been 16 cities and provinces reporting COVID-19 cases since July 25 when the third phase of COVID-19 fight began. They are: Ha Noi, Hai Duong, Bac Giang, Lang Son, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, Thanh Hoa, Da Nang, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City.

The country’s patient tally includes 677 recovered cases and 30 deaths./.
