Da Lat-City of Flowers

VGP – Da Lat city is known as the city of flowers in Viet Nam with the picturesque and peaceful landscape, the cool atmosphere at night, the mysterious mist in the morning and luxuriant pine forests.

Da Lat City, in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong in Viet Nam, is located 1,500 m (4,900 ft) above sea level. In the late nineteenth century, a Swiss man with French nationality was Alexandre Yersin, explored the Central Highlands and reached the Lang Biang plateau to lead to the formation of the flower city today.

 

The Da Lat Flower Festival is a cultural and tourism event which is held every two years. In 2019, the Festival attracted more than 220,000 visitors.

During the early days of spring in Da Lat city, many visitors have been attracted to the vibrant pink colors of cherry blossoms which have appeared throughout the city, creating romantic natural scenery.

Not only cherry blossom, Da Lat in March and April levels also attract tourists with romantic beauty to heart when in the season of purple phoenix flowers.

Xuan Huong Lake is located in the city center and considered as the heart of Da Lat. The lake is surrounded by lush gardens that are filled with flowers and indigenous plants.

Bao Dai’s Summer Palace, built in 1933, was the palace that Bao Dai, the last emperor of Viet Nam resided in Da Lat City during his summer retreat. The home is still much as it would have been in the past and is filled with Bao Dai’s furniture as well as his personal possessions.

Located beside national road 20th, 5 km from downtown of Da Lat, Datanla tourist site has an area of 312ha set amidst the preservation forests. In 1998, Datanla waterfall was recognized as a Cultural historical heritage.

Linh Phuoc Pagoda is one of the most famous temples in the country, in part thanks to its bell tower which stands at a height of 37 meters. This makes it the tallest bell tower of its kind in all of Viet Nam and there is also a colorful central hall here which has a series of murals that tell the story of the life of Buddha.

The Da Lat Flower Gardens stretch for some 7,000 square meters and have more than 300 kinds of flowers on display. One of the best things about the gardens is that the flowers all bloom at different times of the year.

Da Lat Train Station, built in 1943, offers a great glimpse of how people would have traveled in the days of old. The traditional ticket windows are still here and there is also a delightful steam train on show.

The French Quarter in Da Lat is the one of the prettiest parts of the city. Here visitors can take in the graceful French colonial villas, many of which date from the 1920s and 30s.

Prenn Falls is one of the premium attractions in Da Lat and soars to a height of 10 meters. It has an area of 160 ha, of which the pine forest and primitive trees make up 90% of the area.

The Valley of Love is a picturesque valley of rolling hills with a lake as its centerpiece, serving as a romantic getaway for locals and tourists. The scenic green hills surrounding the lake are covered in gorgeous pine forests.

Da Lat Cathedral was built in 1931 and completed in 1942 and would have been the place of worship for the French colonialists on the days of old.
