Japan to offer JPY 2 billion to help fight COVID-19

VGP – Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long and Japanese Ambassador Yamada Takio on Monday exchanged noted concerning the grant aid worth JPY 2 billion for the provision of medical equipment in respond to COVID-19 in Viet Nam.

This grant aid project provides medical equipment to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, National Lung Hospital, Da Nang Hospital C, and National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion in order to help these hospitals reduce COVID-19 fatality rate and improve their treatment capacity.

The project will be implemented until January 2022.

Speaking the signing ceremony of the exchange of notes concerning the grant aid, Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long spoke highly of the Japanese Government’s outstanding efforts in containing the COVID-19 pandemic over the past time.

Long also expressed thanks for and appreciated the Japanese Government’s assistance for Viet Nam to strengthen healthcare capacity.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Yamada Takio highly valued the role played by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health in successfully containing COVID-19 amid swift evolution of the pandemic around the globe.

He extended thanks to Viet Nam for having provided more than 1.2 million face masks in last spring./.
