Russian expert tested positive for COVID-19 in Viet Nam

VGP – A Russian male expert was confirmed the latest COVID-19 case in Viet Nam on Thursday morning, bringing the patient tally to 1,095, announced the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

He was among passengers onboard flight QH9495 that landed in Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on September 26.

The man was quarantined immediately upon his  arrival and is currently receiving treatment at the Can Tho Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital.

With the latest case, the number of COVID-19 patients who shared the same flight QH9495 rose to 18, of whom 17 are Vietnamese nationals tested positive for the virus on September 29.

Of the country's patient tally, 691 are locally-transmitted cases, said the National Steering Committee.

Over 15,491 people having close contact with confirmed cases or coming from pandemic-hit areas are currently placed under medical surveillance, including 266 in hospitals, 10,441 in other concentrated sites, and 10,441 at places of residence.

Among the patients still under treatment, three have tested negative for the virus once, three twice and 11 thrice.

As many as 1,010 patients have recovered while the fatalities remain at 35. Most of the fatalities were the elderly with serious underlying health conditions. /.
